Each month, we will focus on different themes and topics. Here's the lesson plan for Winter:

Chinese Theme Topic: Family & Gratitude & Winter Wonder

Chinese Characters to Learn:

• Family (家庭), Thank you (谢谢), Mom (妈妈), Dad (爸爸), Home (家)

  • Family (家 jiā), Thank you (谢谢 xiè xiè), Turkey (火鸡 huǒ jī)

  • Learn to say family member names, such as 妈妈 (mā ma - mom) and 爸爸 (bà ba - dad).

• Target: Express gratitude and learn about family roles.

• Activities:

  • Craft: Make a “Thankful Tree” or turkey with leaves of gratitude.

  • Song: Sing a family-themed song in Mandarin.

  • Storytime: Share stories about family traditions.

  • Festival: Celebrate Thanksgiving by making handprint turkeys and talking about family values.
