Our commitment to understanding each child on a personal level through the Montessori method extends beyond preschool. We work closely with families to support their child's transition to kindergarten and assist with school applications and placement. Over the past four years, graduates of our program have been accepted into various prestigious schools in Los Angeles, including Braddock Elementary, Broadway, Chapman, Da Vinci Charter School, Turning Point, Polytechnic School, Brentwood School, and Chadwick School.

Montessori-educated students are often sought after by these schools due to their self-motivation, social skills, and genuine enthusiasm for learning. As you navigate the application process, we encourage you to consider applying to multiple schools, taking into account factors such as proximity to your home, teacher recommendations, parental experiences, and specific application requirements for each school. Additionally, we recommend visiting prospective schools to gain a better understanding of their programs and environments.

The Montessori approach isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, and it may not be the perfect fit for every child. However, it's important to note that children of various temperaments and personalities can benefit from this method. While our classrooms are often characterized by a calm and focused atmosphere, we also welcome expressive individuals with vibrant personalities. Just like any other school, we have children who love to explore, run, and engage with their surroundings energetically. We honor each child's unique rhythm and pace of learning, encouraging them to embrace their individuality.

Our Mommy and Me program plays a crucial role in helping families determine if the Montessori approach is right for their child. This immersive experience allows both parents and educators to observe how the child interacts within the Montessori environment. It provides valuable insights into the child's learning style and preferences, aiding in the decision-making process regarding school fit.

At Chia Seed, our approach to education is deeply rooted in the Montessori philosophy, which views the learning environment as a "children's house." This concept reflects our commitment to creating spaces where children feel safe, confident, and empowered to explore and learn.

In our campuses, everything is meticulously designed with children in mind. Furniture and materials are scaled down to their size, allowing them to interact with their surroundings comfortably and independently. We carefully select tools and resources that are accessible, clean, and complete, ensuring that each item serves a purpose in supporting children's learning experiences.

Our houses are thoughtfully designed to be aesthetically pleasing, incorporating natural elements and materials to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Mornings are filled with engaging activities like watering plants, preparing morning snacks, and baking bread together, fostering a sense of community and shared experience among students.

Every aspect of our environment is designed to stimulate children's senses and spark their curiosity. Through hands-on exploration and discovery, children develop independence, critical thinking skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

At Chia Seed, we believe in the transformative power of the Montessori methodology, empowering children to embrace each day with newfound independence and enthusiasm for learning.

Montessori education at our center encompasses a wide range of key learning areas, each designed to support your child's development and growth. Here's a closer look at some of these key areas:

  1. Practical Life: Through practical life activities, children engage in familiar tasks such as sweeping, pouring, and setting the table. These activities not only promote independence but also connect the school environment to tasks children have seen at home, fostering a sense of familiarity and confidence.

  2. Sensorial: In the sensorial area, children explore various objects and materials that are measured and calibrated to help them understand concepts such as length, weight, and volume. For example, children may work with pink tower which helps a child build a concept of size in three dimensions. This includes working on visual perception, and awareness of dimension, both leading to an understanding of size in the environment..

  3. Language: Our language area offers children multiple avenues for acquiring vocabulary, including sound recognition, exposure to books, and practice with sandpaper letters. Through these activities, children gradually develop mastery over language, leading to proficiency in reading and writing.

  4. Mathematics: Mathematics is taught in a concrete, hands-on manner, allowing children to experience concepts such as counting, number recognition, and addition and subtraction. By working with materials such as beads and tracing numbers, children gain a deep understanding of mathematical principles.

These key learning areas provide a rich and engaging educational experience that fosters intellectual, social, and emotional development in your child.

At Chia Seed, we deeply value arts education as an integral component of our curriculum. Our arts program encompasses a diverse range of activities, including music, visual arts, and creative expression.

In our music classes, children have the opportunity to learn instruments such as the ukulele, explore music fundamentals, and develop an appreciation for different musical styles. Through activities like reading notes, practicing sound recognition, and playing instruments, children not only enhance their musical abilities but also sharpen their cognitive skills and creativity.

Additionally, our enrichment program offers a variety of activities such as STEAM, dance/movement, and visual arts, alongside Chinese language instruction. This diverse array of programs enriches children's curiosity, provides context for their daily activities, and fosters self-confidence. By exposing children to a broad spectrum of artistic experiences, we aim to cultivate their creativity, critical thinking, and emotional expression.

Ultimately, our goal is to curate a holistic learning experience that nurtures children's innate curiosity and enables them to thrive in all aspects of their development. Through our comprehensive arts program, we empower children to explore their passions, express themselves authentically, and embrace the transformative power of the arts.
